Patriot PAWS Service Dogs proudly participated in Carry The Load’s Memorial May East Coast Relay kickoff in West Point, NY this year.  Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing active, meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes — military, veterans, first responders and their families.  Each year, throughout the month of May, three routes – East Coast, West Coast and Midwest – operate daily handing off the American flag every 5 miles of walking and/or cycling.  More than 11,500 miles of ground covered provides a chance to get out the message about honoring our nation’s heroes and focusing on the true meaning of Memorial Day.

As part of its mission, Carry The Load selects and raises funds to support non-profit partners that provide healing services for the mind, body or soul of our warriors. Patriot PAWS is very proud to be one of these non-profit partners and proud to be part of the positive impact that Carry The Load is making on the lives of our nation’s heroes.

As announced in our Summer 2018 Newsletter, our onsite Veterinary Clinic is fully operational! Patriot PAWS’ primary veterinarian, Rhonda Phillips Black, DVM and Staff Veterinary Technician, Carrie Robinson, are now able to provide veterinary care, including annual preventative and most types of surgeries, for all dogs in our training program. We are also able to offer veterinarian care free of charge for the public access, working service dogs of our local recipients. We are beyond grateful to these generous donors who helped us equip the Clinic!
